Overview and Objectives
The course is designed to provide updates in information concerning Otitis Media. Topics related to diagnosis and prevention along with new research developments will be addressed. Since the last symposium and research conference, there has been a wealth of new information concerning Otitis Media requiring critical review and discussion. Some of the areas to be updated are epidemiology, physiology, anatomy, pathology, microbiology, molecular biology, diagnosis and screening, treatment, prevention (including the development of new vaccines), complications and sequelae, and new technology. In addition, the impact of managed care, published guidelines on treatment and management, and resistant bacterial organisms will be discussed. At the close of the program, participants should be able to:
• Summarize state-of-the-art knowledge regarding Otitis Media
• Analyze the scientific rationale and gain a better comprehension of the pathogenic mechanisms, diagnosis, prevention, and management of Otitis Media
• Identify new research opportunities and delineate future research directions and priorities
Who Should Attend
With an assembly of four mini symposia, special lectures, contributed paper presentations and poster presentations from specialists in the field of Otitis Media, the conference is designed for interested healthcare professionals such as otolaryngologists, pediatricians, family practitioners, infectious disease physicians, speech pathologists, audiologists, and research scientists.
